Benefits of Coaching

The personal benefits of coaching are as wide-ranging as the individuals involved. Many former students report that coaching positively impacted their performance as well as their lives by helping them to:

  • Establish and take action towards achieving goals in a timely manner

  • Become more self-reliant

  • Gain more self confidence

  • Develop a more positive self-image

  • Take greater responsibility and accountability for actions and commitments

  • Learn more efficiently

  • Stay on course in spite of failings along the way

  • Acquire higher order thinking skills (remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, revising, and creating)

  • Speak more effectively

Our Coaching

The main aim of coaching is to get students well prepared for each stage of the competition. Emphasis will be on helping students not only in acquiring Geography Bee knowledge but also in being competitive with every question in each round by minimizing their mistakes, as errors in the initial rounds can easily knock students out of the competition and thereby for the entire year. Strategies to manage the mind in an anxiety-provoking environment are critical.

Other potential benefits of coaching to students include,  but are not limited to, the following:

  • Developing an enhanced interest in the subject matter of internationalism (physical and human aspects of Geography)

  • Gaining an independent work ethic; acquiring spatial awareness and higher-order thinking skills and in becoming more proficient in advanced communication skills and executive functions (sustained attention, organizing, planning, prioritizing

  • Self-initiation of tasks to completion, sticking to deadlines and self-monitoring

Improving the intellectual capital of students in this manner and learning critical life lessons at an early age will have a profound impact not only in academia but also in personal and professional domains later on in life.

While the immediate focus of coaching is going to be on preparing students to excel in Geography competitions, the long-range and ultimate goal is to prepare them to be global citizens and leaders - aware, responsive and capable of tackling the world's challenges as they emerge in the next century!
